Important disclosure: These are not ACA-compliant marketplace plans. They are association membership-based programs using medical underwriting — applicants may be approved, conditionally approved with exclusion riders, or declined. Guaranteed issue limited benefit options are available. I am a licensed independent insurance agent and will explain every option clearly before you enroll. All rates are illustrative — actual quotes depend on age, location, and health history.

Common Questions

The questions everyone
asks before they enroll.

Honest answers — no spin, no fine print surprises.

How can you offer rates lower than the marketplace?
These plans are accessed through an association membership structure — individual members like you join an association, and that membership unlocks group-rate pricing through carriers like Anthem and Cigna. It's the same model that gives Costco members lower prices than walking into a regular store. The actual insurance is fully underwritten by major carriers — the association is just the access vehicle. The result: self-employed people get pricing they couldn't access as a true individual buyer.
Is this a real insurance plan or some kind of workaround?
These are fully insured major medical plans underwritten by Anthem and Cigna — two of the largest health insurers in the country. They're not ACA-compliant, which is a technical regulatory distinction, not a quality one. Your claims go through the same carrier, the same network, and the same process as any other Anthem or Cigna plan.
Is this the same as an ACA marketplace plan?
No — and that's actually the point. ACA plans are guaranteed issue but can cost $1,500–$2,500/month for a healthy individual without subsidies. These plans use medical underwriting, which means healthy people pay significantly less. If you qualify for a meaningful ACA subsidy, I'll tell you that — I'd rather give you the right answer than the sale.
What if I have a pre-existing condition?
These plans use medical underwriting — meaning your health history matters. You may be approved as-is, approved with an exclusion rider on a specific condition, or in some cases declined. If that's a risk, I'll tell you upfront and we'll talk about the guaranteed-issue limited benefit options that don't ask health questions. No one should be surprised at claim time.
Can I really enroll any time of year?
Yes. No open enrollment window. If you submit your application by the 22nd of the month, your coverage starts the 1st of the following month. Leaving a job mid-year? You can be covered the following month.
Can I deduct premiums as a business expense?
Self-employed individuals can generally deduct 100% of health insurance premiums from federal income tax. This is one of the best tax advantages of being self-employed — and it effectively makes your real cost lower than the sticker price. Talk to your accountant, but in most cases the answer is yes.
